Taipei House International Youth Hostel and Taipei Hostel are different Establishments. I know of many people having stayed in Taipei Hostel in Lane 5 ,Lin Sen N Rd without any problems. So you should be specific in your claims of being cheated.

Seriously, stay in a REAL HOTEL while in Taipei. They aren’t expensive, 3 star hotels run from just around 50-70 USD per night and they are clean with great service. Don’t stay in a hostel in Taipei, they are all run by Indonesians or Filipinos who often scam you.

hmmm…. this does not bode well for Taiwan tourism.

Junk wei, what do you suggest? Should “anti scam” report them to the authorities in Taipei; file a police report?

I can make a feeble effort to put someone on it, but you are probably closer to the source of the problem, and might be more effective due to your “cultural skills”.

Ok, I’m sorry to hear that. It does harm the reputation of taiwanese tourism.

I can make a call to the youth hostel, and talk to their supervisor about the scam problems. Maybe there are lots of backpackers have faced this problem and don’t know how to deal with it.
